The (Sick and) Amazing Race

Last Friday, my company participated in our very own amazing race. The whole company was split up into teams of four.

My team: Andy Yorkin, Ryan Wood and Paul Gadd (aka the Dream Team.) Fittingly, we decided to name ourselves:

3 bros and a ho

We even got t-shirts.

On the day of the race, we all were given clues and based on what we were given we had to run all over Salt Lake via TRAX or on foot. We ran to the Gateway, we went to the Huntsman Basketball Stadium, we went down to the IHC hospital, we went to an archery range (where I wasn't even able to hit one bullseye. In an apocalyptic world, I would starve). The clincher: we were sprinting around like crazy in 100 degree heat, each team carrying two HUGE watermelons. We must have run at least 5 miles.

Not to mention this challenge happened:

Kristin: Wait, what do we have to eat?

Worms? Are you kidding me?

OK. Here I go.....

Oh no. Here it goes.....

That actually happened. (For the people that are really sick, you can click on the picture to enlarge it and actually see the barf coming out of my mouth. Yuck.)

Even though I was exhausted and sick, it was actually pretty fun. (It was better than work, right?) Plus, my team got 2nd place. Go 3 bros and a ho!

If you want to see video, check out this link. We were on the news!

As long as you can down worms, you'll survive in any type of world... although, you puked those up, so nevermind.

Excited to see you guys tomorrow... I've been starving myself all month so I can look like the Todd when I'm in the sand.

That is really awesome! Kris I am really impressed. Didn't think you could bring yourself to eating worms.

You didn't mention that you had vomit in your hair and watermelon running down your shirt when you had the Gev run in. Even more impressive that you talked to him! You need to post something about the encounter on here sometime. I have retold the story multiple times.

The things you will do in the name of competition. And so the motto sticks....never, never give up, even if it means eating worms... I can't wait to show this to Jordan.

PS- I loved, loved, loved Poisonwood Bible when I read it. Years ago. So at least I think I did. Enjoy!

Wait. Worms and Gev in the same day?! I'm now going to embellish every retelling of the Gev elevator story with the following:

Elevator closes.

Kristin: 'I love SYTYCD.'
Gev: 'Cool.'
Kristin: 'I voted for you.'
Gev: 'Mmm.'
Kristin: 'I ate worms today.'
Gev: Pause.

Slow breathing.
Elevator ding.
